Becky & Kris | An intimate outdoor wedding at 100 Acre Woods in PEC

As a wedding photographer, you see wedding after wedding, meet couple after couple; and while each experience takes up a little piece of your heart, sometimes a couple comes along and scoops up much more than anyone before. In the best possible way, Becky & Kris did just that.

These two are two of the coolest, nicest humans I have ever met… like ever.

They had me at hello. Right off the bat from our very first zoom, and every step along the way, I was hooked. They are radiant people with big loving hearts that make everyone feel so loved. They sparkle with happiness and light up every single space they’re in. They make everyone feel included and cared for. Plus, they are as funny as can be. Honestly, I could go on and on - and while that would be great in order to rank well on google’s search engine because it loves a blog with more than a thousand words - I know that you want to get to the images because that’s why you are here! And photos of these babes don’t need my wordy blog. Not to mention a single photo is worth a thousand words, so really with this collection of photos, I think google should just get the hint: this is a love story to share.

Ok - back to the wedding, and these babes.

They were married in Prince Edward County at 100 Acre Woods . I had been looking forward to shooting there because it’s been on my bucket list for a while. I had even been in contact with the owner, Mary - who is one of the nicest humans! - about weddings there, and how every time I received an inquiry to shoot at her venue, I’d already be booked. Time and time again. That is until Becky & Kris emailed and their date was one I was available for! YESSS! Fist pump! Hands in the air! Pop the champagne! FINALLY!!

Then, I met them. And, I couldn’t be more excited.

An amazing venue with an amazing couple I was falling in love with. Oh my, this was going to be good. Spoiler alert: it was even better than I could have imagined.

The whole day was lovely. Every single moment. Every little part of the story, every little part of the day, was filled with goodness.

All their wedding vendors were psyched. Their wedding party was full of excitement and support. The weather was gorgeous; albeit, a little windy at times.

Becky & Kris wore their hearts on their sleeves for the entire duration of the wedding.

As photographers, we love the story of the day, but one part that at times can vary is the reception. You just never know how chill or wild it will be, and it all depends on your crew of people. And the speeches - sometimes people dread or worry about these, but let me tell you, this reception and these speeches…. i. cannot. even. handle. them.

The speeches were hilarious. The speeches were heartfelt. The speeches were just so darn unique and memorable. Everyone was in stitches. Every single person who went up there either pulled out all the good tears or caused roars of laughter. Becky’s mom had me (and everyone else tbh) in hysterics when she started to re-read excerpts from Becky’s diary when she first met Kris in school. Although I’d love to retell each story, it was kind of a “you had to be there” type of moment, but I think once you check out the photos, you’ll totally feel the level of humor & entertainment. Another funny moment for me, personally, was when Kris opened their speech quoting me from our first meeting where I shared “not to start your speech with those cheesy quotes from google that I hear at every. single. wedding”. While this was not a common start, I did appreciate starting the speech with a quote of something I had said. Cheeky!!

Truly, this wedding had it all, and it felt so special to curate a collection of photos that honestly captured all the feelings. I hope that these two will never forget a single detail.

And for anyone curious to know a few of the magic wedding makers involved in this beautiful day, here is a little rundown:

  • Makeup: The Look Bridal

  • Hair: Thairapy by Jocelyn

  • Officiant: Weddings by Karin

  • DJ: Damien Smith

  • Dress: Loversland (Prea James)

  • Veil: Ofrenda

  • Cake: Gallz Provisions

  • Bike Rental: Closson Road Cycles

  • and me, obviously ;)

Also, as a side and a little bit more about One Acre Woods: it’s run by a husband and wife team who relocated from Toronto and took over the property where they built a gorgeous venue, home, and catering space - where Kevin, Mary’s husband, makes the yummiest food for the reception. There is so much lush land and so many awesome spots for photos. The tent area, which is completely open on the sides, shows off the gorgeous surroundings. There is a building off to the side for an alternative plan in case of rain; but if no rain, it’s a great spot to have cocktails, and even your late-night dance party. The staff who work there are beyond charming, and the food - oh the food - Kevin is so good! Family style. And, DELICIOUS. I’m still thinking about it and am so excited about returning there in May for a wedding I’m shooting.

But back to Becky & Kris; thank you, from the bottom of my heart for choosing me to capture your most wonderful day. You are the raddest people, and I’m so glad I’ve also convinced you to be real-life friends of mine, too. Can’t wait for our next date, and to meet your new pup!

All my love and then some. xo
