Maddy | a maternity session at Warkworth farm house

This session is one that truly has my heart.

It’s a session I dreamed up a few years ago and suddenly all the pieces came together. It was set and it was happening!!

It was originally supposed to be a love session. And actually, what you are seeing here isn’t what the session was suppose to be at all. This whole little series is the “extra”, an on-the-spot creation, and the time in between hiding from harsh sun & heat.

This is actually not the planned part or the main reason we were there. It was the evolution of just being in a beautiful space with a beautiful mama.

We had adventured far from the city to capture sweet Maddy in a clawfoot tub full of florals.

If you follow me on IG you will have seen some frames of it as I have dropped little peeks there. Once the tub arrived (thanks to my husband and a giant U-Haul), Joanne from June Bloom Events got started on her epic floral creation.

We were planning aerial shots, then another set of images from all other angles. We got some shots above just before the clouds all broke apart and the harsh heavy sun came pouring down. We watched as the flowers began to wilt and a little cool down for everyone involved was an immediate must!

Once cooled down and back to normal temp, we began an “on the spot” extra session. I did have some little ideas but wasn’t really sure what would come out of it as the only real set plan was the florals in the tub portion. But that’s how magic is made, and I always look for these unplanned moments.

So, as the flowers got some water and a/c, we began to play.

And when Joanne brought the flowers back outside and continued with her floral creation, we just kept shooting. We took full advantage of the Warkworth Farmhouse and all the little nooks it so beautiful provided as the most perfect setting for that day.

Maddy is a past bride of mine. From the moment I met her years ago, and every moment since then, she stands out to me as someone who beams with love and kindness. Her caring nature, beautiful heart, and fun playfulness inspires me to my core.

Capturing motherhood and her motherhood story in these series of photos is something that truly makes my heart beat faster. Sessions like this give me all the life and all the drives to always keep coming back to this work. It’s what I love with all my heart.

This is part one, and I hope you’ll come back for part two with Maddy in a clawfoot tub full of flowers. It’s beyond breathtaking if I may say so myself!

All my love, xo
